Fresh off a third-place class finish at the 2025 SCORE Baja 500 and building on his second-place class podium at the 2024 SCORE Baja 1000, Eric Solorzano continues proving that experience and determination triumph over youth in desert racing. The 66-year-old San Diego veteran also claimed third overall at both the 2024 King Shocks SCORE San Felipe 250 and 2023 K&N SCORE Baja 400, demonstrating remarkable consistency at the sport's highest level.
Featured prominently in SCORE's official Baja 500 50th anniversary book, Solorzano has earned legendary status as one of Class 11's most successful drivers with seven SCORE Baja 500 class victories spanning his illustrious career. His old-school approach to desert racing—competing in vintage Volkswagen Beetles with minimal modifications—has made him a fan favorite and earned him appearances in Dana Brown's acclaimed "Dust to Glory" films.
Known for his mechanical ingenuity and never-quit attitude, Solorzano has built a reputation for performing miraculous field repairs to salvage race finishes. His ability to adapt and overcome mechanical challenges while maintaining competitive pace has cemented his place among SCORE's most respected competitors, representing the pure spirit of Baja racing.
The tough terrain in and around Baja’s San Felipe makes it one of the most brutal courses in SCORE’s four races. Racers agree that the most challenging part of this race is that you are driving/riding at nearly ninety percent of your vehicle’s capabilities. For the entire time, you are on the course without any reprieve. Read More
While Class 11 is one of the toughest classes to finish a race in, the peninsula run brought out 12-amazing competitors ready to take the challenge. In this class, finishing is a must to take a win, and the top three finishers completed the course in 42 hours, well ahead of the 50-hour time limit. Read More
The traditional Baja Bugs are still made up of hardcore racers who love these vehicles enough to put themselves through a difficult race like the 2nd SCORE Baja 400. Finishing is as good as winning for most, but taking the checkered flag is better when there’s some competition after the same goal. Read More
One of the fan favorites is to watch the SCORE Class 11 Bugs start and finish any race. In San Felipe, three teams competed and ultimately the 1100 car of the Garcia family finished with the fastest time to win the class. Luis Fernando and his brother Luis Francisco headed the team and had co-drivers Omar Beltran and Ramses Garcia help bring the win. Read More
