Biography

At 67 years old, this Colorado veteran continues to prove that experience and determination can overcome the grueling challenges of SCORE desert racing. Competing aboard a Can-Am 1000 in the demanding Sportsman Quad division, Batza demonstrated remarkable resilience during the 2024 SCORE Baja 1000, battling through over 41 hours of punishing Baja terrain to secure a ninth-place finish in one of motorsport's most unforgiving events.

Racing alongside co-riders Marco Mercado, Anthony Romero, and John Ferrari, Batza's team methodically worked their way through the legendary 1000-mile course, showcasing the tactical approach and mechanical reliability that defines successful desert racing campaigns. His finish among only 12 teams to complete the grueling sportsman quad category speaks to both his driving skill and crew preparation.

Based in Durango, Colorado, Batza represents the dedicated privateer spirit that forms the backbone of SCORE International racing. His commitment to tackling Baja's most challenging race at an age when most competitors have long since retired demonstrates the enduring appeal of desert racing and the seasoned competitor's refusal to yield to Father Time in pursuing his off-road racing passion.
