     ENSENADA, Baja California, Mexico-To talk about SCORE Trophy Truck is to talk about the greatest show on earth, a class that already has 30 years of existence, since the idea of attracting the most important automotive companies ignited in the mind of the iconic former SCORE owner Hall of Famer Sal Fish.

     Vehicles that have amazed millions of people in the deserts of Baja California, Baja California Sur, Nevada, Arizona, and California, as well as its fame has spread beyond the borders of the North American continent, to Asia, Europe, and Oceania.

     There have been 153 races for the marquee ‘Monsters of the Desert’ class for two-wheel and All-Wheel Drive unlimited custom trucks, with more than 1000 horsepower. With a cost of more than US$1 million dollars and the ultimate in technology, they are considered by racers, engineers, and fans around the world as the Formula 1 of desert racing.

     Showcased in different feature films, like Dust to Glory and Dust2Glory, SCORE Trophy Trucks have also appeared in different videos of companies focused on off-road racing, or even video games on consoles such as Xbox 360 and Play Station 4, which speaks of the high impact of this class in this sport.

     Celebrities such as the creator of the motorcycle company West Coast Choppers, Jesse James, one of the owners of the Los Angeles Dodgers in Major League Baseball, Bobby Patton, former Indy Car Series drivers Robby Gordon and Danny Sullivan, former NASCAR Series drivers Jimmie Johnson, Brendan Gaughan and Justin Lofton, as well as past Dakar Rally winners Nasser Al Attiyah and Toby Price, have all raced in SCORE Trophy Truck at least once.

THE G.O.A.T. OF OFF-ROAD

    Rob MacCachren, 59, Las Vegas, is the winningest driver in the 30-year history in the SCORE Trophy Truck, by adding 20 career victories through the deserts of Mexico and the United States, who is considered the most complete and winningest driver in Off-Road, who was also the first champion of this class, in 1994, as part of the Venable Racing team and the Rough Riders, a project that was headed by the Ford company at the time.

     The track record of “Big Mac” is immense. He has won everything in this sport, including four SCORE Trophy Truck season point championships (1994, 2007, 2018 and 2021) with which he is now living a new stage in his sporting career, as official driver of the Fastball Racing team and focused on improving the newest version of Jimco Racing, an All-Wheel Drive SCORE Trophy Truck.

     MacCachren won the Baja 1000 in the SCORE Trophy Truck in 2007, as part of the Riviera Racing team alongside Mark Post and Carl Renezeder, then in 2014, 2015 and 2016, alongside Jason Voss and Andy McMillin, to return to the top in 2021 and 2022 with Luke McMillin, aboard the No. 1 McMillin Racing Chevrolet 1500.

ANDY ON THE HUNT FOR BIG MAC

     Andy McMillin, 36, San Diego, is an exceptional talent, having learned many of the secrets of the sport from his late grandfather Corky McMillin, as well as his father Scott McMillin and uncle Mark McMillin. Andy McMillin has 12 career race wins in the history of the SCORE Trophy Truck, making him the closest active driver who can reach Rob MacCachren's 20 victories in the future.

     ‘Bebo’ McMillin, has established luxury alliances in this sport, next to Robby Gordon, winning in 2006 the Baja 1000 in the SCORE Trophy Truck, and the overall of the peninsula event, or also with the same ‘Big Mac’, prevailing in ‘The Mother of all off-road races’ at his side, in 2014 and 2015.

     Now as part of the McMillin Racing team alongside his cousin Dan McMillin, 36, San Diego, California, Andy is bringing his passion for the sport, his driving skills and his experience in the deserts of Baja California to fight for the checkered flag in the four races of the 2024 SCORE World Desert Championship.

‘TAVO’, THE MEXICAN WARRIOR

     Gustavo ‘Tavo’ Vildosola Jr., 42, Mexicali, Baja California, is the Mexican driver with the most career race wins in the SCORE Trophy Truck with seven, several of them alongside his father Gustavo Vildósola Sr. Tavo won the BFGoodrich Tires 56th SCORE Baja 1000, alongside Bryce Menzies and Andy McMillin, in a historic ride, starting the race for the first time in the port of La Paz, Baja California Sur and finishing in Ensenada, Baja California.

     ‘Tavo’ is the current leader of the SCORE Trophy Truck in the 2024 SCORE World Desert Championship with 239 points, still in search of his first crown in this class with his team Vildosola Racing, who has a very aggressive driving style and thousands of Mexican fans in this sport.

A TERRIBLE LEGACY IN SCORING

     Ed Herbst, 63, and his younger brother Tim Herbst, 61, Las Vegas, Nevada are among the most winners in the history of the SCORE Trophy Truck with 11 victories, starting their steps in this class in 1996 with the Ford F-150 of the president and owner of the Ultra Custom Wheels company, Jim Smith. Later the developed to their own Trucks, created by the mind of Mike Smith, including a 4x4 truck that was released in 2000 and now under the new version of their company, 1 Nine Industries.

     Tim Herbst also won four SCORE Trophy Truck championships alongside his older brother Ed, in 1999, 2000, 2002 and 2003, precisely that year, was the last year they won a SCORE race in this class. Thinking of leaving that bad streak behind this year, with the help of experienced driver Pat Dean, who has become Tim's ideal partner.

NEXT ROUND, 5th SCORE BAJA 400, Presented by VP Racing

     From Sept. 10-15, the third round of the 2024 SCORE World Desert Championship will be held in Ensenada, Baja California, the 5th SCORE Baja 400, presented by VP Racing, an event in which more than 35 SCORE Trophy Trucks are expected to be in action, within the 394.17 miles race course, which will start and finish on Boulevard Costero.

METHOD RACE WHEELS QUALIFYING

     SCORE Trophy Truck, SCORE TT Legend and Trophy Truck Spec classes will hold the Method Race Wheels Qualifying session on Wednesday, Sept. 11. Starting with at 7 a.m. PT at a private venue, this event is closed to the public.

     The Method Race Wheels Qualifying will determine the starting order in those three classes for the race, as this is the first time in the history of this that all SCORE four races will hold a qualifying session.

CREADOS POR SAL FISH EN 1994

Se cumplen 3 décadas de “Los Monstruos del Desierto” en SCORE

Leyendas de Baja han desfilado por los SCORE Trophy Trucks, como Rob, MacCachren, Iván Stewart y Larry Ragland

ENSENADA, Baja California, México- Hablar de los SCORE Trophy Trucks es hacerlo del espectáculo más grande en la tierra, clase que ya cuenta con 30 años de existencia, desde que surgió la idea de atraer a las empresas automotrices más importantes en la mente de Sal Fish, vehículos que han maravillado a millones de personas en los desiertos de Baja California, Baja California Sur, Nevada, Arizona y California, al igual que su fama se ha extendido más allá de las fronteras del continente americano, como ha sido en Asia, Europa y Oceanía.

Ya son 154 carreras dentro de “Los Monstruos del desierto”, clase para Trucks de tracción sencilla y doble tracción, al igual que más de 1000 caballos de fuerza o más, en algunos casos, con un costo de más de 1 millón de dólares y lo mejor en tecnología, siendo considerado por los fans mexicanos como la Fórmula 1 del Off-Road.

Del 10 al 15 de septiembre se realizará en Ensenada, Baja California, la tercera fecha del Campeonato Mundial del Desierto 2024 de SCORE, la edición 5 de la SCORE Baja 400, presentada por VP Racing, evento en el que se esperan más de 35 SCORE Trophy Trucks en acción, dentro de la ruta de 394.17 millas, que arrancará y finalizará en el Bulevar Costero.

LA CALIFICACIÓN METHOD RACE WHEELS

El miércoles 11 de septiembre se realizará la calificación Method Race Wheels de la SCORE Baja 400 para los SCORE Trophy Trucks, SCORE Trophy Trucks Legend y Trophy Truck Spec, iniciando con prácticas desde las 7 de la mañana en una sede privada, recordando que en este evento no se permitirá el acceso a espectadores.

De esa manera se definirá el orden de arranque en esas 3 clases para la carrera, siendo esta la primera vez en la historia que todas las fechas de SCORE contarán con esta actividad, con lo que se busca generar mayor derrama económica en las sedes de los eventos, como lo son San Felipe y Ensenada.

La calificación Method Race Wheels será transmitida en vivo por las cuentas oficiales de SCORE en Facebook y YouTube, con la opinión de expertos del Off-Road desde los estudios de SCORE en El Cajón, California.
