58 earn record 2024 Rod Hall SCORE Milestone Awards

in four-race 2024 SCORE World Desert Championship

 

For Pro, Sportsman racers in cars, trucks, UTVs, motorcycles and quads completing every required race mile

     ENSENADA, Baja California, Mexico—‘Celebrating 51 Years of SCORE Desert Racing Excellence’ this year, following the four-race 2024 SCORE World Desert Championship, a record 58 of the toughest racers in the world survived 2057.75 masterful miles to earn prestigious 2024 Rod Hall SCORE Milestone Awards, presented by Toyota Escondido.

     The four races, all held in Baja California, Mexico, for the ninth consecutive year, were the 37th King Shocks SCORE San Felipe 250, in San Felipe in March, the BFGoodrich Tires 56th SCORE Baja 500 in Ensenada in June, the 5th SCORE Baja 400, presented by VP Racing, in Ensenada in September, and the BFGoodrich Tires 57th SCORE Baja 1000 in November.

SCORE MILESTONE AWARDS

     SCORE is presenting these prestigious awards to the world’s toughest desert racers for the 39th consecutive year. The Rod Hall SCORE Milestone Awards, presented by Toyota Escondido, will be presented to the car, truck, UTV drivers and motorcycle, quad riders who finish every required mile as officials finishers in the 2024 SCORE World Desert Championship. Racers were required to cover 2057.75 miles in the four races in 2024.

TOP CLASSES

     The 58 racers who completed all the required miles were from 22 different SCORE racing classes.

     Leading the way in winning prestigious 2024 Rod Hall SCORE Milestone Awards, presented by Toyota Escondido, were eight superlative stallions in the featured SCORE Trophy Truck division (including three in the SCORE TT Legend class for SCORE Trophy Truck drivers over 50 years old), four in the unlimited Class 1, 10 in Trophy Truck Spec, three in Class 10, six in Pro UTV Open, three in Pro UTV FI (Forced Injection), and three in Pro Moto Unlimited.

SCORE COMMENTS

It is also a distinct privilege for us to continue to honor the memory of one of the greatest desert racers of all time in having the late Rod Hall’s name on this unique and wonderful award.”

MULTI-TIME WINNERS

     While 29 winners of the 2024 Rod Hall SCORE Milestone Awards, presented by Toyota Escondido, have earned this prestigious award for the first time, 29 of this year’s winners have earned two or more and 20 of those have captured this award three or more times.

     Leading this year’s multiple winners’ group are Las Vegas’ Tim Herbst and Kaden Wells, Hurricane, Utah.

     Tim Herbst, part of the legendary Terrible Herbst Motorsports team that has encompassed three generations, earned his 2024 SCORE Milestone Award by running two races in SCORE Trophy Truck and two in SCORE TT Legend for drivers 50 years old and over). Besides 2024, Herbst earned his other SCORE Milestone Awards (all in SCORE Trophy Truck) in 2000, 2004, 2012, 2018, 2020 and 2021.

     Wells has earned his SCORE Milestone Awards in seven consecutive years (2018-2024), five times driving in the Pro UTV NA class, one in Pro UTV Open, and this year in Pro UTV Stock.

     Third in career totals among this year’s winners was Mexico’s Fernando Beltran, of Ensenada, with six total (2017, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024), the first five in the Pro Moto Limited class and this year in the Pro Moto Unlimited class.

     With five career SCORE Milestone Awards each are Class 1 racers Cody Reid, Apple Valley, Calif. (2014, 2015, 2017, 2023, 2024) and Brad Wilson, Long Beach, Calif. (2011, 2013, 2016, 2018, 2024).

     Seven racers tied with four each of these distinguished awards are Mexico’s Gustavo ‘Tavo’ Vildosola Jr, Mexicali (three in SCORE Trophy Truck and one in Protruck), Tavo’s father Gustavo Vildosola Sr, Mexicali (one in SCORE Trophy Truck and three in SCORE TT Legend), Cody Parkhouse, Long Beach, Calif. (Class 1), J. David Ruvalcaba, Ensenada, Mexico (two in Class 10 and two in Trophy Truck Spec), Dale Ebberts, Wilton, Calif. (one in Class 1/2-1600, two in Class 1, and one in Class 10), Oscar R. Alvarez, McAllen, Texas (two in SCORE Lites and two in Pro UTV Open), and Kristen Matlock, Alpine, Calif. (two in Pro UTV NA and two in Pro UTV Open).

     Tied with three prestigious SCORE Milestone Awards each are eight additional racers: Alan Ampudia, Ensenada, Mexico (SCORE Trophy Truck), David Ziegler, Reno, Nev. (Trophy Truck Spec), Mason Cullen, Long Beach, Calif. --VILDOSOLA RACING

     Mexico’s Gustavo Vildosola Sr and his son Gustavo ‘Tavo’ Vildosola Jr, both of Mexicali, both earned 2024 SCORE Milestone Awards.  Gustavo Sr captured his by finishing every required mile in the SCORE TT Legend class and Tavo earned his in SCORE Trophy Truck. 

     Together, they have earned eight SCORE Milestone Awards, four each.

--LOS TERRIBLES

     Las Vegas’ three-generation Terrible Herbst Motorsports team earned three SCORE Milestones in 2024. Tim Herbst (SCORE Trophy Truck), his son Thor Herbst (Trophy Truck Spec), and his nephew EJ Herbst (Trophy Truck Spec) each earned a 2024 SCORE Milestone Award. 

     It is the seventh award for Tim Herbst and first for his son Thor Herbst (who has his brothers Pierce Herbst and Riley Herbst as his additional drivers).

     EJ Herbst (son of Ed Herbst who has two Milestones) won his second Award.

--MR. & MRS. MATLOCK

     One of only two husband and wife drivers to ever win this award, Wayne Matlock, and his wife Kristen Matlock, of Alpine, Calif., each earned another SCORE Milestone Award in 2024. Wayne Matlock now has earned three of these awards and Kristen Matlock has won four.

     The only other husband and wife drivers to earn this award have been Cameron Steele (with three) and his wife Heidi Steele (with four).

     Celebrating its 31st year since it was introduced by SCORE’s then-owner Sal Fish in 1994, SCORE Trophy Truck is the sport’s marquee racing division for high-tech, 1000 horsepower, unlimited custom trucks.

Gran presencia latina en los Premios Rod Hall de SCORE 2024

 

 

Para atletas de categorías profesionales y Sportsmans, en carros y motos, que hayan completado cada una de las millas de esta temporada

 

     ENSENADA, Baja California, México— La celebración de los 51 años de existencia de SCORE, ha sido espectacular a lo largo de las 4 fechas del Campeonato Mundial del Desierto 2024 de SCORE, un récord de 58 corredores que lograron salir avante de las 2 mil 57.75 millas de esta temporada, para poder ganar un Premio Rod Hall de SCORE 2024, presentado por la empresa Toyota Escondido.

     Las 4 carreras que se realizaron en el estado de Baja California, por novena año en forma consecutive, fueron la edición 37 de la King Shocks SCORE San Felipe 250 durante marzo en el municipio de San Felipe, la edición 56 de la BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 500 que se llevó a cabo en junio dentro del municipio de Ensenada, la edición 5 de la SCORE Baja 400, presentada por VP Racing, que se celebró también en Ensenada, pero en septiembre pasado, así como la edición 57 de la BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 1000 en noviembre.

LOS PREMIOS SCORE

     SCORE estará entregando los prestigiados galardones a los corredores más completes del mundo, algo que sucede desde hace 39 años en fila. Los Premios Rod Hall de SCORE, presentados por la compañía Toyota Escondido, es para los atletas en carros y motos que cruzaron la meta en cada una de las 4 fechas del Campeonato Mundial del Desierto 2024 de SCORE. La cifra final de millas de esta campaña fue de 2 mil 57.75 millas.

CATEGORÍAS ESTELARES

    Los 58 corredores que cubrieron todas las millas de este año en SCORE, se dividieron en 22 categorías diferentes de motocicletas y carros.

    Encabezando el camino como parte de los Premios Rod Hall de SCORE 2024, están 8 equipos en los espectaculares SCORE Trophy Trucks, incluidos 3 pilotos de la categoría SCORE Trophy Trucks Legend para pilotos de 50 años o más, 4 en la Clase 1, 10 en la clase Trophy Truck Spec, 3 en la Clase 10, 6 en la categoría Pro UTV Open, 3 en la clase Pro UTV FI y 3 en la categoría Pro Moto Unlimited.

LA OPINIÓN DE SCORE

Los corredores de SCORE son los más completos, quienes vencen a los terrenos más exigentes del mundo. Este galardón tan prestigiado se ha vuelto parte del gran legado de nuestro deporte. Es un honor el seguir honrando la memoria de uno de los más grandes corredores en la historia del Off-Road, como lo es Rod Hall, quien le da un enorme valor a este maravilloso premio”, finalizó.

NO SE CANSAN DE GANAR PREMIOS

     29 corredores recibirán el Premio Rod Hall de SCORE, presentado por Toyota Escondido, por primera vez en su vida, una cifra similar de participantes de la Clase 2024, ha ganado este prestigiado galardón en dos ocasiones o más, y 20 más, se han quedado con este trofeo por tercera ocasión o hasta cuatro veces.

     Liderando el grupo de ganadores del premio en varias ocasiones, aparecen Tim Herbst de Las Vegas, Nevada, y Kaden Wells de Hurricane, Utah.

     Tim Herbst, integrante del legendario equipo de los Terribles Herbst, mismo que ha contado con 3 generaciones en este deporte, ganó el Premio Rod Hall SCORE de 2024, al correr 2 carreras en la clase de los SCORE Trophy Trucks, y 2 más en la categoría de los SCORE Trophy Trucks Legend, que es para pilotos de 50 años o más. Además de este año, Herbst se quedó con el Premio SCORE en 2000, 2004, 2012, 2018, 2020 y 2021, todas como piloto de “Los Monstruos del desierto”.

     Ya son 7 años en fila en los que Wells gana el Premio SCORE (2018-2024), 5 de esos galardones los recibió como parte de la categoría Pro UTV NA, 1 en la clase Pro UTV Open, y en este año, como integrante de la categoría Pro UTV Stock.

     El ensenadense Fernando Beltrán recibirá este premio por sexta ocasión en su trayectoria, siendo el tercero con más reconocimientos de este tipo en la Clase 2024 (2017, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 y 2024), 5 de esos trofeos, fueron en la clase Pro Moto Limited, y en este año, dentro de la categoría Pro Moto Unlimited.

     Luego le sigue Cody Reid de Apple Valley, California, con 5 Premios SCORE, todos en la Clase 1 (2014, 2015, 2017, 2023 y 2024), misma cifra para Brad Wilson, también piloto de la Clase 1, quien logró la hazaña de terminar todas las millas de una temporada en 2011, 2013, 2016, 2018 y 2024.

     Siete corredores están empatados con 4 trofeos legendarios, como lo son el mexicalense Gustavo “Tavo” Vildósola Junior, 3 los consiguió en los SCORE Trophy Trucks y 1 en la clase Protruck; Gustavo Vildósola Señor, quien ganó 1 en los SCORE Trophy Trucks y lleva 3 en los SCORE Trophy Trucks Legend; Cody Parkhouse de Long Beach, California en la Clase 1, el ensenadense José David Rubalcaba con 2 en la Clase 10, 1 en la categoría Trophy Truck Spec y 1 más en la Clase 1/2-1600; Dale Ebberts, de Wilton, California lo ha ganado en 1 ocasión dentro de la Clase 1/2-1600, 2 en la Clase 1 y 1 en la Clase 10; Oscar Álvarez de McAllen, Texas se ha quedado con el Premio SCORE en 2 ocasiones dentro de los SCORE Lites y 2 más en la categoría Pro UTV Open, y Kristen Matlock, de Alpine, California, lo consiguió en 2 veces como integrante de la clase Pro UTV NA y 2 en la clase Pro UTV Open.

     Los mexicalenses Gustavo Vildósola Señor y Gustavo “Tavo” Vildósola Junior, recibirán su Premio SCORE 2024. Gustavo Señor logró esta hazaña como miembro de la clase SCORE Trophy Trucks Legend, y “Tavo” consiguió el mismo logro, pero como piloto de un SCORE Trophy Truck.

     Ambos han ganado en 8 ocasiones el prestigiado galardón, con 4 premios cada uno.

--LOS TERRIBLES

     El equipo de Los Terribles Herbst, de Las Vegas, Nevada, ganaron 3 Premios SCORE en este 2024. Tim Herbst en los SCORE Trophy Trucks, su hijo Thor Herbst en la clase Trophy Truck Spec, y su sobrino E.J. Herbst, también en la Trophy Truck Spec.

    Es el séptimo premio de este tipo para Tim Herbst, y el primero para su hijo Thor Herbst, quien contó con apoyo al volante de su hermano Pierce Herbs, y su primo Riley Herbst.

     E.J. Herbst, hijo de Ed Herbst, quien ganó anteriormente 2 Premios Score, ahora cuenta con la misma cifra que su señor padre en este deporte.

--LOS MATLOCKS

     Uno de dos matrimonios en ganar este galardón en la historia del mismo, son Wayne Matlock, y su esposa Kristen Matlock, quienes viven en Alpine, California, ambos haciéndose acreedores a un Premio SCORE en este 2024. Wayne ha ganado ya 3 trofeos por alcanzar todas las millas de una temporada, y Kristen tiene 4 en su récord personal.

     El otro matrimonio en ganar este premio, son los Steele, con Cameron y su marca de 3 trofeos, mientras que su esposa Heidi tiene 4.

SCORE TROPHY TRUCKS

    Concluyendo su temporada 31 de su historia, tras ser creada esta categoría en 1994 por el antiguo dueño de SCORE, Sal Fish, los SCORE Trophy Trucks, se mantienen como la clase estelar del Off-Road, con vehículos únicos, mismos que cuentan con motores de 1000 caballos de fuerza.
