    ENSENADA, Baja California, Mexico— Round 3 of the 2026 SCORE World Desert Championship, the 7th SCORE Baja 400, is rapidly approaching. The race will be held September 9-13 in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, and Ryan Arciero, Kristen Matlock, Wayne Matlock, and Miguel Monroy are already among the official entries ready to battle for the checkered flag.

     Known as the ‘Off-Road Racing Capital of the World,’ Ensenada will host the SCORE Baja 400 as the race marks the beginning of the final stretch of this season for the world’s premier desert racing organization. The city is also home to many magical destinations, including Valle de Guadalupe, with its extraordinary variety of wines and cuisine; La Bufadora, a spectacular natural marine geyser; the giant Mexican flag located along the waterfront; Hussong’s Cantina, the oldest cantina in the city; and the historic Riviera de Ensenada Social and Cultural Center.
     Pre-race Contingency, Tech Inspection and the start/finish line compound will be located on the iconic Bulevar Costero in Ensenada, Baja California along the amazing blue waters of the Pacific Ocean.
     Ensenada is located 116 kilometers south of the U.S. border crossing at San Diego, on the western side of the Baja California peninsula, with the Pacific Ocean running alongside the city. All four SCORE events in 2026 will be held in Mexico, specifically within the Baja California peninsula, marking the 11th consecutive year this format has taken place.

     Founded originally in 1973 in Southern California, the four-race 2026 SCORE World Desert Championship is being held exclusively in Baja California, Mexico, for the 11th consecutive season. SCORE is known globally as the World’s Foremost Desert Racing Organization.

ARCIERO, THE FIRST KING OF THE BAJA 400

     Ryan Arciero, 52, Foothill Ranch, Calif., holds a very special place in SCORE Baja 400 history, as the veteran California racer captured both the overall and SCORE Trophy Truck victories in the inaugural edition of the race in 2019, forever etching his name into the SCORE International record books.

      Arciero conquered that first SCORE Baja 400 behind the wheel of the No. 32 Levi’s/Arciero Racing Ford F-150 Herbst-Smith, completing the challenging 390-mile race course in 8 hours, 26 minutes, and 32 seconds without penalties, while averaging 46.20 miles per hour.

      The victory was anything but easy for the member of a family with a rich motorsports tradition. Arciero had to outduel a field of 36 SCORE Trophy Trucks in a battle decided by razor-thin margins. Andy McMillin finished second, just 1 minute and 37 seconds behind the winner, while Mexico’s Gustavo ‘Tavo’ Vildosola Jr. completed the overall podium.

      That historic victory also marked Arciero’s fourth career win in the SCORE Trophy Truck division and his first triumph in the ‘Desert Monsters’ since 2004, when he captured the SCORE Baja 500 alongside his friend Mark Miller.

      Arciero has competed in the first two rounds of the 2026 SCORE World Desert Championship, but has yet to reach the finish line in either race. He recorded a DNF in the King Shocks 39th SCORE San Felipe 250 while competing in the SCORE Trophy Truck 2WD class. At the BFGoodrich Tires 58th SCORE Baja 500, Arciero moved into the SCORE Trophy Truck class, but once again came away empty-handed behind the wheel of his No. 32 Ford Raptor 1 Nine Industries.

THE MATLOCKS

      Wayne Matlock, 48, Alpine, Calif., and Kristen Matlock, 45, Alpine, Calif., are a husband-and-wife team who live and breathe Off-Road racing, as well as outstanding ambassadors for Polaris RZR, the Official UTV of SCORE International. The talented racing couple is now facing another major challenge in their careers—capturing their first SCORE Baja 400 victory.

      With seven SCORE season class championships under his belt, Wayne Matlock is coming off a second-place finish in the Pro UTV Open class at the BFGoodrich Tires 58th SCORE Baja 500, driving his No. 1871 Matlock Racing Polaris RZR Pro R Factory. Earlier this season, he suffered an unusual DNF at the King Shocks 39th SCORE San Felipe 250.

      Kristen Matlock has built an impressive legacy as the ‘Iron Woman’, racing without a relief driver behind the wheel of her No. 1854 Matlock Racing Polaris RZR Pro R Factory. She has also earned a special place in the hearts of Mexican fans throughout the Baja California peninsula, always greeting them with a smile, posing for photos, signing posters, and participating alongside her family in charity rides benefiting an orphanage in San Quintin, Baja California.

MONROY, FROM CAMALU TO THE WORLD

      Miguel Monroy, 28, Camalu, Mexico, currently sits second in the 2026 SCORE World Desert Championship standings in the Sportsman M/C class with 199 points, following a pair of runner-up finishes at the SCORE San Felipe 250 and SCORE Baja 500 aboard his No. 269x Honda CRF450X motorcycle.

      Monroy is now preparing to compete in the 7th SCORE Baja 400, where he will be joined by Brian Wipperman, 29, Phoenix, Ariz., Eduardo Gonzalez, 31, Punta Colonet, Mexico; Jason Lopez, 19, Mexicali, Mexico; Joshua Ochoa, 21, Tecate, Mexico; and Antony Tamayo, 25, Ensenada, Mexico.

      The team also remains in the hunt for a 2026 SCORE Rod Hall Milestone Award, an honor that will be presented in January 2027 to racers who complete every required mile of the 2026 SCORE World Desert Championship within the official time limits.

RACE COURSE MAP TO BE REVEALED

      The official race course for the 7th SCORE Baja 400 will be unveiled on Monday, August 24 at 3 p.m. PT on the official SCORE website, www.SCORE-International.com, as well as on SCORE’s official Facebook and Instagram accounts. The race course will cover 423.16 miles, with the start and finish located on Ensenada’s iconic Bulevar Costero.

THE GREEN FLAG
      Desert racers chasing victory at the SCORE Baja 400 will receive the green flag on Saturday, September 12, at 5 a.m. PT. on Ensenada’s iconic Bulevar Costero, while car classes will begin at 10 a.m. PT. in front of hundreds of enthusiastic fans along one of the most popular avenues in the ‘Cinderella of the Pacific.’
      The official time limit for teams to be considered official finishers will be 16 hours, as SCORE International celebrates its 53rd season as the world leader in off-road racing, having organized events in Mexico, the United States, and Germany.

TECH INSPECTION

      Tech inspection and contingency row of race vehicles by SCORE Tech officials will take place on Friday, September 11, 2026, along Ensenada’s vibrant Bulevar Costero, which will also serve as the start and finish area for the event, located just steps from the Pacific Ocean.

EARLY ENTRIES

     With over 180 entries anticipated at the start line, 78 total entries have been received so far for this growing event, with racers representing 17 U.S. States, U.S. Territory Puerto Rico, and 9 countries. The countries with at least one racer so far are United States, host country Mexico, Australia, Canada, Denmark, England, Japan and New Zealand.

DOUBLE DIGITS
     Leading the list of entries with double-digit lineups so far are SCORE Trophy Truck with 21 entries (including nine in SCORE TT 2WD), Trophy Truck Spec with 17 entries, and Pro UTV FI (Forced Induction) with 8 entries.
     Among 2-wheel vehicles, Sportsman M/C has five entries.
ENTRY DEADLINES
     The deadline to enter in time to be included in the SCORE Baja 400 Race Day program and the race program is 5 p.m. PT on Monday August 31.
     Starting positions for the classes that aren’t qualifying will be determined by a random drawing after the close of online racer registration.

     Late entries may register in person at the SCORE Ensenada office will have until 5 p.m. PT on Friday, September 4. Those late entries, however, will not be included in the start draw.
     Late, on-site entries will receive the next starting position within the class entered.

POLARIS SCORE CHALLENGE

      Polaris Off-Road Vehicles and the RZR Factory Racing team are introducing the Polaris SCORE Challenge, a first-of-its kind incentive program aimed at rewarding participation in SCORE International UTV racing. The initiative offers a $50,000 purse to any UTV racer – regardless of manufacturer – who

defeats the RZR Factory Racing team for the Overall UTV victory at the Baja 400. If the purse goes unclaimed, the challenge will carry over to the Baja 1000, giving competitors another opportunity to claim the prize.

      The SCORE Challenge comes as the RZR Factory Racing team has elevated the Pro UTV class into one of the fastest and most competitive categories in desert racing. By putting Brock Heger, Cayden MacCachren, Ethan Groom, Joe Terrana and Rodrigo Ampudia squarely in the crosshairs, the challenge positions RZR Factory Racing as the target for the entire field.

     “The goal of the SCORE Challenge is to reward top racers for racing Baja and create even more opportunities for head-to-head competition at the highest level,” said Alex Scheuerell, Polaris’ Director of Off-Road Motorsports. “When the best teams and drivers compete, everyone benefits—the sport grows, the competition gets stronger, and the fans get the racing they want to see.

MANUFACTURER’S SCORE-card
     Ford is undefeated in the SCORE Baja 400 with six overall victories in 4-wheel vehicles and six in overall Engine winners.
     For the motorcycle competition, Honda has four moto overalls and KTM has two moto overalls.
     In the tire competition for 4-wheel vehicles, Toyo Tires has won five consecutive times while BFGoodrich Tires won the inaugural even in 2019.

MEDIA REGISTRATION
     Media outlets may now register for coverage of the 7th SCORE Baja 400. Registration can be completed by accessing the following link: https://score-international.com/score-media/index.php, where participants must fill out the registration form to be part of the Round 3 of the 2026 SCORE World Desert Championship.
     The deadline for online media registration for press covering the 7th SCORE Baja 400 is Friday, September 4, 2026.
     SCORE Media Center will also offer in-person registration at the Red Room of the Riviera de Ensenada Center on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. PT; Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. PT; and Friday, September 11, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. PT.
METHOD RACE WHEELS QUALIFYING
     In a format inspired by Formula 1 and the NASCAR Series, SCORE will conduct the Method Race Wheels Qualifying session on Thursday, September 10, 2026, beginning at 8:00 a.m. PT, to determine the starting grid in the following classes: SCORE Trophy Truck, SCORE Trophy Truck 2WD, SCORE Trophy Truck Legend, Class 1, and Trophy Truck Spec.
     Entries received after Friday, August 28 will be assigned the next available starting positions within each qualifying category. The qualifying order will be determined by SCORE based on the date each team completes its online registration.
     The Method Race Wheels Qualifying is a non-spectator event held on a private property course and will be broadcast live across SCORE digital platforms.

     ENSENADA, Baja California, México– La tercera fecha del Campeonato Mundial del Desierto 2026 de SCORE International, la edición 7 de la SCORE Baja 400, se está acercando a toda velocidad, carrera que será del 9 al 13 de Septiembre en Ensenada, Baja California, México, y que cuenta ya con Ryan Arciero, Kristen Matlock, Wayne Matlock y Miguel Monroy en los registros oficiales para pelear por la bandera a cuadros.

     Conocida como “La Capital Mundial del Off-Road”, Ensenada, la SCORE Baja 400 marcará el comienzo de la recta final de esta temporada en la organización elite de Off-Road en todo el planeta, lugar que cuenta con sitios mágicos como el Valle de Guadalupe, con una enorme variedad de vinos y gastronomía, además del géiser natural de La Bufadora, la gran bandera mexicana que se ubica en el malecón, la Cantina Hussongs, la más antigua en la ciudad, y el histórico Centro Social y Cultural Riviera de Ensenada.

      La revisión mecánica y de seguridad, las actividades de contingencia previas a la carrera, así como la zona de salida y meta, estarán ubicadas sobre el icónico Bulevar Costero de Ensenada, Baja California, junto a las espectaculares aguas azules del Océano Pacífico.

      Ensenada se encuentra ubicada a 116 kilómetros al sur de la frontera con los Estados Unidos, tomando como referencia el cruce fronterizo de San Diego, en la parte occidental de la península de Baja California, con el Océano Pacífico bordeando la ciudad. Los cuatro eventos de SCORE en 2026 se realizarán en México, específicamente en la península de Baja California, marcando el undécimo año consecutivo bajo este formato.

      Fundada originalmente en 1973 en el Sur de California, SCORE celebrará por undécima temporada consecutiva las cuatro fechas del Campeonato Mundial del Desierto 2026 exclusivamente en la península de Baja California, México. SCORE es reconocida a nivel mundial como la organización líder en carreras fuera de camino en el desierto.

ARCIERO, EL PRIMER REY DE LA BAJA 400

     Ryan Arciero tiene un lugar muy especial en la historia de la SCORE Baja 400, ya que el experimentado corredor californiano fue el ganador overall y de los SCORE Trophy Trucks en la edición inaugural de esta carrera en 2019, escribiendo su nombre para siempre en los libros de récords de SCORE International. 

     Arciero conquistó aquella primera SCORE Baja 400 a bordo del Ford F-150 Número 32 del equipo Levi’s/Arciero Racing, construido por la empresa Herbst-Smith, completando la exigente ruta de 390 millas en 8 horas, 26 minutos y 32 segundos, sin recibir penalizaciones y con una velocidad promedio de 46.20 millas por hora. 

      La victoria no fue nada sencilla para el integrante de una familia con una enorme tradición dentro del deporte motor. Arciero tuvo que superar a un grupo de 36 SCORE Trophy Trucks, en una batalla que se definió por márgenes muy reducidos. Andy McMillin finalizó segundo, a solamente 1 minuto y 37 segundos del ganador, mientras que el mexicano Gustavo “Tavo” Vildósola Junior completó el podio overall. 

      Aquella victoria representó también el cuarto triunfo de Arciero en los SCORE Trophy Trucks y el primero para él en “Los Monstruos del Desierto” desde 2004, cuando conquistó la SCORE Baja 500 junto a Mark Miller. 

      Arciero ha participado en las dos primeras fechas del Campeonato Mundial del Desierto 2026 de SCORE International, aunque no ha tenido éxito en cruzar la meta de ambas carreras, al sufrir un abandono en la edición 39 de la King Shocks SCORE San Felipe 250 en la clase SCORE Trophy Trucks 2WD, y en la edición 58 de la BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 500, dio el salto a la clase SCORE Trophy Trucks, quedándose nuevamente con las manos vacías a bordo de su Ford Raptor Número 32 de la marca 1 Nine Industries.

LOS MATLOCKS

      Wayne Matlock, de 48 años, y de Alpine, California, y Kristen Matlock, de 45 años, y de Alpine, California, son un matrimonio que desayuna, come y cena Off-Road, además de grandes embajadores de Polaris, la marca oficial de UTV´s de SCORE International, quienes están ante un nuevo reto en sus vidas, ganar su primera SCORE Baja 400.

      Con 7 campeonatos de SCORE bajo su cintura, Wayne Matlock, viene de capturar el segundo sitio en la clase Pro UTV Open dentro de la edición 58 de la BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 500 con su Polaris RZR Pro R Factory Número 1871 del equipo Matlock Racing, y en la edición 39 de la King Shocks SCORE San Felipe 250 sufrió un extraño abandono.

       Kristen Matlock, ha construido un impresionante legado como la “chica de acero”, al no contar con un relevo al volante de su Polaris RZR Pro R Factory Número 1854 del equipo Matlock Racing, quien se ha ganado el corazón de los fans mexicanos a lo largo de la península de Baja California, al siempre estar con una sonrisa para tomarse una fotografía con ellos, firmarles un poster, o también realizar paseos benéficos junto a su familia en apoyo a un orfanato de San Quintín, Baja California.

MONROY, DE CAMALÚ PARA EL MUNDO

       Miguel Monroy, de 28 años, y de Camalú, Baja California, México, es el actual segundo lugar en el Campeonato Mundial del Desierto 2026 de SCORE International en la clase Sportsman M/C con 199 puntos, tras un par de segundos lugares conseguidos en la SCORE San Felipe 250 y la SCORE Baja 500 a bordo de su motocicleta Honda CRF450X Número 269x.

      Monroy está en preparación para participar en la edición 7 de la SCORE Baja 400, carrera en la que contará con el apoyo de Brian Wipperman, de  29 años, y de Phoenix, Arizona, Eduardo González, de 31 años, y de Punta Colonet, Baja California, México, Jason López, de 19 años, y de Mexicali, Baja California, México, Joshua Ochoa, de 21 años, y de Tecate, Baja California, México, y Antony Tamayo, de 25 años, y de Ensenada, Baja California, México, quienes están también metidos en la batalla por ganar un Premio SCORE Rod Hall 2026, galardón que se entregará en Enero de 2027 a todos los corredores que completen todas las millas de esta temporada en tiempo oficial.

REVELARÁN MAPA DE LA CARRERA

      El Lunes 24 de Agosto a las 3 de la tarde, tiempo del Pacífico, se dará a conocer la ruta oficial de la edición 7 de la SCORE Baja 400, en la página de internet de SCORE, www.SCORE-International.com, además de las cuentas oficiales de SCORE en Facebook e Instagram. La ruta será de 423.16 millas con salida y meta en el icónico Bulevar Costero de Ensenada.

EL BANDERAZO DE SALIDA

Los corredores del desierto que buscarán la victoria en la SCORE Baja 400 recibirán la bandera verde el sábado 12 de septiembre, a las 5 a.m. (hora del Pacífico), sobre el icónico Bulevar Costero de Ensenada, mientras que las clases de automóviles arrancarán a las 10 a.m. (hora del Pacífico), ante cientos de entusiastas fans que se darán cita en una de las avenidas más populares de la “Cenicienta del Pacífico”.

El tiempo límite oficial para que los equipos sean considerados finalistas oficiales será de 16 horas, en una temporada en la que SCORE International celebra su año 53 como líder mundial de las carreras fuera de camino, tras haber organizado eventos en México, Estados Unidos y Alemania.

REVISIÓN MECÁNICA

La revisión mecánica y de seguridad, así como la fila de contingencia de los vehículos de competencia por parte de los oficiales técnicos de SCORE, se llevará a cabo el viernes 11 de septiembre de 2026 sobre el vibrante Bulevar Costero de Ensenada, que también será el escenario de la salida y meta del evento, a solamente unos pasos del Océano Pacífico.

LO QUE SIGUE

La tercera fecha del Campeonato Mundial del Desierto 2026 de SCORE International, integrado por cuatro carreras, será la edición 7 de la SCORE Baja 400, que se llevará a cabo del 9 al 13 de septiembre en Ensenada, Baja California, México.

INSCRIPCIONES TEMPRANAS

Con más de 180 equipos esperados en la línea de salida para continuar con las acciones de la temporada 53 de las carreras en el desierto de SCORE, hasta el momento se han recibido un total de 78 inscripciones tempranas para la “Baby Baja” de SCORE, con corredores representantes de 17 estados de los Estados Unidos y nueve países.

Los países que cuentan hasta el momento con al menos un corredor inscrito son Estados Unidos, el territorio estadounidense de Puerto Rico, México como país anfitrión, Australia, Canadá, Dinamarca, Inglaterra, Japón y Nueva Zelanda.

DOBLE DÍGITO

Encabezando hasta el momento la lista de categorías con cifras de dos dígitos se encuentra SCORE Trophy Truck, con 21 inscritos en total —incluidos nueve en SCORE Trophy Truck 2WD—, seguida por Trophy Truck Spec, con 17 registros, mientras que Pro UTV FI cuenta con ocho inscritos.

Entre los vehículos de dos ruedas, la categoría Sportsman M/C cuenta con cinco equipos inscritos.

FECHAS LÍMITE DE INSCRIPCIÓN

La fecha límite para inscribirse y ser incluido a tiempo en el programa oficial del Día de Carrera de la SCORE Baja 400, así como en el programa de la carrera, será el lunes 31 de agosto a las 5 p.m. (hora del Pacífico).

Las posiciones de salida para las clases que no participarán en la calificación serán determinadas mediante un sorteo aleatorio, una vez que cierre el registro en línea de corredores.

Las inscripciones tardías podrán realizarse en persona en la oficina de SCORE en Ensenada hasta el viernes 4 de septiembre a las 5 p.m. (hora del Pacífico). Sin embargo, estos equipos no serán incluidos en el sorteo de posiciones de salida.

Los corredores que se inscriban de manera tardía y directamente en el lugar recibirán la siguiente posición de salida disponible dentro de la clase en la que se hayan registrado.

EL RETO POLARIS SCORE

Polaris Off-Road Vehicles y el equipo RZR Factory Racing presentan el Polaris SCORE Challenge, un programa de incentivos único en su tipo, creado para premiar la participación en las competencias de UTV de SCORE International. La iniciativa ofrece una bolsa de 50 mil dólares a cualquier corredor de UTV —sin importar el fabricante de su vehículo— que logre derrotar al equipo RZR Factory Racing y quedarse con la victoria Overall de UTV en la SCORE Baja 400. Si nadie logra reclamar el premio, el reto continuará en la SCORE Baja 1000, brindando a los competidores una nueva oportunidad de llevarse la bolsa.

El SCORE Challenge llega en un momento en el que el equipo RZR Factory Racing ha elevado a la categoría Pro UTV hasta convertirla en una de las más rápidas y competitivas de las carreras en el desierto. Al colocar a Brock Heger, Cayden MacCachren, Ethan Groom, Joe Terrana y Rodrigo Ampudia directamente en la mira de sus rivales, este desafío convierte a RZR Factory Racing en el equipo a vencer por todos los competidores.

“El objetivo del SCORE Challenge es premiar a los mejores corredores por competir en Baja y crear todavía más oportunidades para enfrentamientos directos al más alto nivel”, señaló Alex Scheuerell, Director de Off-Road Motorsports de Polaris. “Cuando los mejores equipos y pilotos compiten, todos se benefician: el deporte crece, la competencia se vuelve más fuerte y los fans reciben el tipo de carreras que quieren ver”.

LA TARJETA DE LOS FABRICANTES
    Ford se mantiene invicto en la historia de la SCORE Baja 400, al sumar seis victorias overall en los carros, además de seis triunfos overall para sus motores.
     En la competencia de motocicletas, Honda lidera el historial con cuatro victorias overall, mientras que KTM ha conquistado dos triunfos overall.
      En cuanto a la batalla entre fabricantes de neumáticos para vehículos de cuatro ruedas, Toyo Tires presume cinco victorias consecutivas, en tanto que BFGoodrich Tires se quedó con el triunfo en la primera edición de la SCORE Baja 400, celebrada en 2019.

REGISTRO DE PRENSA

Los medios de comunicación ya pueden registrarse para realizar la cobertura de la edición 7 de la SCORE Baja 400. El registro puede realizarse en la página de prensa de SCORE International, donde los interesados deberán llenar el formulario correspondiente para formar parte de la cobertura de la tercera fecha del Campeonato Mundial del Desierto 2026 de SCORE International.

La fecha límite para el registro en línea de los medios de comunicación que cubrirán la edición 7 de la SCORE Baja 400 será el viernes 4 de septiembre de 2026.

El Centro de Prensa de SCORE también contará con registro presencial en el Salón Rojo del Centro Social, Cívico y Cultural Riviera de Ensenada, el miércoles 9 de septiembre de 2026, de 1 p.m. a 7 p.m. (hora del Pacífico); el jueves 10 de septiembre, de 1 p.m. a 5 p.m. (hora del Pacífico); y el viernes 11 de septiembre, de 8 a.m. a 4 p.m. (hora del Pacífico).

CALIFICACIÓN METHOD RACE WHEELS

Con un formato inspirado en la Fórmula 1 y la Serie NASCAR, SCORE llevará a cabo la Calificación Method Race Wheels el jueves 10 de septiembre de 2026, a partir de las 8:00 a.m. (hora del Pacífico), para definir el orden de salida en las siguientes clases: SCORE Trophy Truck, SCORE Trophy Truck 2WD, SCORE Trophy Truck Legend, Clase 1 y Trophy Truck Spec.

Las inscripciones recibidas después del viernes 28 de agosto recibirán las siguientes posiciones de salida disponibles dentro de cada categoría que participará en la calificación. El orden de participación en la calificación será determinado por SCORE con base en la fecha en que cada equipo complete su registro en línea.

La Calificación Method Race Wheels será un evento sin acceso para espectadores, que se llevará a cabo en una ruta ubicada dentro de una propiedad privada y será transmitida en vivo a través de las plataformas digitales de SCORE.
